Dear Past Self,

Hi, dear past self, I’m writing to you from the year 2022 when you have already 20 years old! Don’t feel shocked by my occurrence, there are some things I would like to talk to you about!

Dear past self, please let bygones be bygones, do not ever feel upset about any bad things that happened to you. You always care too much about your bad grades and even feel depressed about it. Knowing that you are already trying your best, why don’t you just start over? The past cannot be altered, but the future can be. You must always have faith in who you are.

Dear past self, set a clear goal about your life since young will never go wrong. What course do you want to take? Which University you would like to enrol in? Most importantly, what is your dream? “Worse than not realizing the dreams of your youth, would be to have been young and never dreamed at all (Jean Genet, n.d. ). You have to trust me that you will feel lost after you graduate from secondary school because you have no idea what your next plan is.

Dear past self, please spend more time with your pet, Friday. You have been too busy for preparing your assignment and examination until you cannot see him for the last time. Friday is old and it needs your companion. You should know that you are inconsolable when it cannot ever react to your command. So, please, please stay by his side when you are aware that he is losing of appetite and getting weak or listless.

Dear past self, giving your friends the silent treatment when you are quarrelling with them would never be a good choice. You should learn to solve the argument but not disregard them. Even if you feel that you are offended by them, you should express your dissatisfaction and resolve the conflict as soon as possible. Don’t be afraid to quarrel with them and please stand up for yourself. Sometimes, quarrel is also another way to communicate.

Dear past self, you should have determined in learning something new talent. Take a look at the dust-covered ukulele, guitar and dye. Have you ever been proficient in playing the ukulele, guitar, and drawing? I am pretty sure that you are not now. Instead of wasting the time in entertainment, why don’t you try to master a skill? Try to explore something new instead of being so lazy.

Lastly, Forest Gump (1994) stated that “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get”. I couldn’t tell you anymore about what’s is going to happened. If something awful is happened, I wish that you can withstand the severe test and always be grateful if good things happened. May the force be with you, good luck!
